Here are just some of the features:
- Full, fast and searchable copy of the Lewis & Short Latin lexicon - it searches as you type, showing either short definitions or full definitions along with citations.

- Parse any Latin word to English, regardless of conjugation - includes full breakdown of the words form.

- Full copies of classic texts in their original Latin, grouped either by author or genre, including: the Gallic War and Civil War by Julius Caesar, Res Gestae by Augustus, the Twelve Caesars by Suetonius, the Amores by Ovid, the poems of Catullus, the Aeneid, Georgicon and Eclogues by Virgil, Pliny the Elder and Younger, the Metamorphoses by Apuleius, five landmark speeches by Cicero (including In Verrem!), plus Horace, Juvenal, Vitruvius and more!

- Most of our Latin texts come with parallel English translations, which means you can be reading Caesars original Latin description of his battles in Gaul, then tap a button and jump to an English translation exactly where you left off - flip between languages to check your translation as often as you want!

- New "Church fathers" mode that gives you the Bible in English and Latin, plus Augustines Confessions and Bedes Ecclesiastical History of the English People.

- Students can use the built-in grammar test to check their skill at Latin conjugation; teachers can use the new exam mode to generate tests for classes in seconds.

- When you find a new word, use SPQRs flashcards system to practice your vocabulary as you learn.

- Our built-in classics quiz has over 4000 questions on the ancient world to test your knowledge.

- Included in the app are full copies of Allen & Greenoughs New Latin Grammar, plus Fabulae Faciles, Bennets New Latin Grammar and The Comic Latin Grammar - weve even added Edward Gibbons epic work The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire for good measure.

- Dozens of quotes from ancient Roman sources, along with their English translations.

- Set Access Controls to restrict features based on student needs.

- PLUS: take advantage of the integrated Roman numeral converter, experience Caesars Gallic War in word-for-word mode, try your hand at the Sortes Virgilianae, get up close to Ancient Rome with our exclusive photo collection, and more!

Pros and cons of SPQR Latin Dictionary and Reader app for iPhone and iPad

SPQR Latin Dictionary and Reader app good for

Thanks to the author for his work. Here you can find everything about Latin in one place. Very well crafted. Please keep on going!!! More from Cicero (books and letters) and other authors would be appreciated. What about the Fronto letters?
This app is jam-packed with great info and tools for those who are trying to learn Latin.
If you have an interest in latin, then this app will please you with the enormous amount of material available and the ability to take with you on your Ios device. Very well put together and the developer is still supporting it with a new update today.
This app contains material that would have cost a fortune to compile in book format. Just the Lewis & Short dictionary alone would be worth several hundred dollars. And now this hugh library of best classical Latin literature is in my pocket for the cost of a few cups of coffee. Paul Hudson deserves much kudos for his labour of love.
The parsing dictionary on this app is incredibly useful. It analyses the word you want and finds the proper definition. Lots of goodies for those who want to know Latin.
This app is worth every penny and is invaluable for any student of Latin.

Some bad moments

I use this app daily, concurrent with my Latin reading and it has not failed me once. The vocabulary list is exhaustive and the declensions seem very accurate. It is overall an extremely helpful tool.
App is getting really big (350mb) and there is no way I can find to clean cashe or temporary data. Have to delete it and reinstall frequently. Please fix it
I really like this app. I would appreciate more in the grammar section than just verb conjugation however.
I LOVE Latin and have been studying it for seven years. This app has really helped with the finer points of grammar, such as (aliquis vs ullus). However, the navigation is lacking, with no ability to bookmark, the dictionary wont recognize certain forms of nous — requiring the reader to already be familiar with the word, like pecus-pecudis relative to genus-generis — and the look-up function is convoluted and cant recognize certain homophones. Also, the dictionary needs to mark all long vowels and not every other short vowel. This is not so much of a problem for me, but makes it difficult for students to translate into Latin.
Please consider one day adding some more modern texts, like the Requiem Mass (unless the Latin is significantly different?). Note For people considering getting this app, there is every classical text you could wish for, in Latin and English.
Im in highschool and Ive been using this since Sophomore year, its very convenient.
